Public International Law

Our lawyers specialise in public international law, commercial and investor-State arbitration. We have represented States, State-owned enterprises and multinational companies in numerous investment treaty and commercial arbitrations under the rules of major arbitration institutions, including ICSID, ICC, SIAC, SCC and KLRCA (now AIAC), as well as ad hoc proceedings under UNCITRAL Rules.

Key cases include:

  • Representing a Middle Eastern State in three inter-related ICSID arbitrations relating to investments in ports and customs systems.

  • Acting as Counsel for an Eastern European State in an ICSID arbitration involving a longstanding investment in a motorway in Europe.

  • Representing a number of Claimants against a South Asian State in two inter-related investment arbitrations under UNCITRAL Rules relating to an oil and gas investment.

  • Advising a multi-national company operating in Central Asia on investment treaty arbitration proceedings and structuring of investments for investment protection.
